March 24, 2015 Tucker at Lakeside

We faced Tucker this week with a game that went back and forth with active bats and solid pitching from both teams.  At the bottom of the 7th inning, the score was Tucker 8 and Lakeside 6.  As we many of our games, the bats for Lakeside became hot and we started off with a beaned batter (Bell). Alex Eisenhart walked. A stolen base moved Bell and Esienhart to 3rd and 2nd.  Jeremy Boise hit a grounder to bring Bell home and Eisenhart to 3rd.  Harry hit a pop up that was dropped by Tucker allowing Eisenhart to score and tie the game.  Jackson Mathis came to the plate and drove a single, allowing Harry to advance to 2nd.   Ben Maughon brought home the game winning RBI with a drive to centerfield.

Final score, Lakeside 9, Tucker 8

March 17, 2015  Lakeside vs. Shiloh @Shiloh

A 5:30 game in Snellville is tough to make for parents, especially in heavy traffic, so the game recorder did not make it till late in the game.

Lakeside maintained a steady lead until the 7th inning.  Going into the 7th, Lakeside was up 8-4.  In the bottom of the 7th Lakeside seemed to need some extra innings to make up for game cancellations so we gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to allow a tie game, Lakeside 8, Shiloh 8.

Extra Innings!

Going into the 8th inning, the Vikings did not put any points on the board nor did we allow Shiloh to gain any either. At the end of the 8th inning it was still 8 to 8.

Moving into the top of the 9th inning, everyone on Lakeside decided to hit or get on base so we put up 7 runs to move the score to 15 to 8.

Shiloh had opportunity in the bottom of the 9th, but Lakeside decided it was late and we needed to get home so we allowed no runs to finish the game off.

The final score was Lakeside 15, Shiloh 8.

Feb 28, 2015 – Lakeside vs. Druid Hills

What was supposed to be a double header was changed to a single game at 3:30 played at Druid Hills Middle School. On a comfortable, sunny day, Lakeside got off to a slow start in the first inning being unable to score.  They kept the Devils to two runs and ended the inning 0-2.

In the second inning, Mathis was able to convert a walk into a run with a single from Holt. The score at the end of the second was 1-2. In the third, Lakeside was not able to put points on the board but the Devils were able to gain a run from an error.  At the end of the third, the score was 1-3.

In the fourth inning, the Druid Hills bats came alive.  With back to back triples, the inning ended with a score of 1-6.  In the 5th, the Devils were able to get one more run which gave them a 6 point lead.  The score of 1-7 continued through the top of the 7th.

It was very nice to have the support of some of the JV players who showed up and stayed throughout the game in the dugout.  It was appreciated by everyone.
